No Reason

A student, filled with emotion and crying, implored, “Why is there so much suffering?”

Suzuki Roshi replied, “No reason.”  (via)

I like this.

The two other explanations are “It’s your Karma” and “God is testing you.”  And maybe those are true, sometimes.

But for some reason, this is the one that makes me smile.  😀

    …because it eliminates mystery … no reason in the cause of the suffering, no reason for the oppression of the suffering, and no reason to believe that the suffering being cause could be generated from a feeling, conscious, and thinking being…
