Pluto

Via Meg Is A Weirdo:

A lesser known and awesome fact about the New Horizons’ mission to Pluto: It’s carrying the ashes of Clyde Tombaugh, the amazing man behind the discovery of Pluto in 1930. Before he passed away in 1997, he requested that his ashes be sent to space. NASA obliged and sent a small amount of his remains with the Pluto mission. Thanks for being sentimental, NASA. Now Clyde has gone further than any human in the universe and space geeks everywhere can shed a tear of starry happiness. How insanely perfect.

  1. …I had heard that and thought it was such a supremely good gesture… it was an act that I think will endear NASA to the next group of geeks that join the cause to find out if we are going to actually go off into “infinity and beyond”…
